NSS Unit Organized Inaugural Ceremony of NSS Winter Camp (26. Dec.2025 to 01. Jan.2026 on the Theme “Disaster Management”
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of College formally inaugurated its Winter Camp on the theme “Disaster Management” with great enthusiasm and commitment to social responsibility. The inaugural ceremony marked the beginning of a series of awareness-oriented and community-based activities aimed at preparing students to respond effectively during natural and man-made disasters. The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, accompanied by Saraswati Vandana performed by students of Music department of the college and the NSS song setting a solemn and purposeful tone for the camp. The formal welcome address was presented by Prof Ruth K. Masehi. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CLUJ Dr. K.S.Chandersekar who emphasized the growing importance of disaster preparedness in today’s world, highlighting the role of youth in mitigation, response, and rehabilitation during emergencies. The guest of honour was the worthy Principal of the college Prof Archana Kaul who talks about the need for psychological preparedness, teamwork, and community awareness to minimize loss of life and property during disasters. Prof D.S.Manhas, Dean Student Welfare, CLUJ was the special guest in the ceremony. He also emphasized on the duties and role of youth in the upliftment of the society. Mr. Kunal Mehra (former NSS volunteer) presented the previous year’s activities in a video form. The detailed presentation of the proposed activities of the Winter Camp was also given by Prof. Menaka Rajput (NSS Programme Officer) outlining lectures, practical sessions, awareness drives, poster-making activities, and community service initiatives related to disaster management. Dr. Kailash Sharma (NSS Programme officer) presented the vote of thanks. The proceedings of the day were handled by Prof Menaka Rajput. The inaugural day concluded with a beautification drive of the campus pathways, reflecting the spirit of discipline, cleanliness, and teamwork among NSS volunteers. The Winter Camp aims to sensitize students towards disaster risk reduction, foster leadership qualities, and instill a sense of service to humanity. The NSS Unit reaffirmed its commitment to nation-building by preparing young minds to face crises with resilience and responsibility. The NSS programme officers Dr.Kailash Sharma, Prof Menaka Rajput and Prof Dheeraj Bharadwaj along with faculty members i.e., Prof. Ruth K. Masehi, Prof Nazia Choudary, Prof Pooja were also present in the ceremony.
