| On the occasion of World Mountain Day, i.e. 11 December 2025, a trekking expedition was organized along the Aithem to Baba Pehad trail with the aim of promoting environmental awareness, adventure activities, and appreciation of mountain ecosystems. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, reflecting a shared commitment towards sustainable tourism and ecological conservation..Highlights1. The event commenced with a formal briefing on safety measures and environmental ethics.2. Members of the Directorate of Tourism facilitated the trek and briefed participants on eco-tourism and responsible trekking practices.3. Students actively followed “Leave No Trace” principles to minimize environmental impact.4. Upon reaching Baba Pehad, participants were apprised of the cultural and religious significance of the site.A total of 44 students from MAM College, Jammu participated in the trek under the supervision of three faculty members, namely Dr. Rajinder Kumar, Prof. Gagandeep Jangral, and Prof. Mohd Ashraf. Officials and field staff from the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu were also present, providing logistical assistance, professional guidance, and safety supervision throughout the event.The trekking route passed through scenic forest trails and hilly terrain, offering participants valuable exposure to the region’s mountain ecosystem. Emphasis was placed on responsible trekking practices, environmental conservation, and the principles of sustainable tourism.The event successfully commemorated World Mountain Day by fostering ecological awareness, physical fitness, and a sense of responsibility towards the preservation of mountain environments among the participating students. |
